DIRTY THIRTY:
This variation is played with 30 cards and the 31st card Pans the hand. It is played the same way regular Pan is played for the first 10 cards. At this point a player decides if they are going to play or not. After the player goes flat with their first 10 cards they are dealt 5 more cards from the top of the deck and then the Dealer splits the deck and deals the additional 5 cards from where the cards were split making up the second 10 cards to that player. The deck is replaced and the game continues. When the player melds 20 cards and once again flat. They again receive 5 cards from the top of the deck and another 5 cards from where the Dealer splits the deck. The game continues until whomever melds 31 cards first; that player is the winner.
During the playing of the 30 cards, players are paid for all valid payable konditions. Upon going out and winning the player is repaid for all valid konditions plus the Tops. It is not uncommon for someone playing Dirty Thirty to go out for as much 30 to 40 chips.
ONE-EYED JACKS WILD:
This variation is played with 20 cards and the 21st card Pans the hand. It is played the same way regular Pan is played for the first 10 cards with the exception that One-Eyed Jacks are wild (Jack of Spades & Jack of Hearts). At this point a player decides if they are going to play or not. Only a single One-Eyed Jack can be used on a meld and/or paid kondition. During play the One-Eyed Jack can be replaced with a valid third card to the meld and used again by the player that first laid the wild card. If the One-Eyed Jack is replaced by the player they must use it in another meld immediately. When the player Pans the first 10 cards they are dealt another 5 cards from the top of the deck. Again One-Eyed Jacks remain wild and playable throughout the game. When the player melds those 5 cards and is flat with fifteen cards they are once again dealt 5 more cards from the top of the deck. The game continues until someone Pans 21 cards to win the game.
During the playing of the 20 cards, players are paid for all valid payable konditions. Upon going out and winning the player is paid once again for all valid konditions plus the Tops. It is not uncommon to see a couple of Bongs in a hand and for someone playing One-Eyed Jacks Wild to go out for as much 20 to 30 chips.
RED-BLACK-RED or BLACK-RED-BLACK:
This variation is played with 20 cards and the 21st card Pans the hand. It is played the same way regular Pan is played for the first 10 cards with the exception that after the first 10 cards are dealt the dealer splits the deck where the next down card is revealed and it becomes the wild card and all red or black cards of the same value become wild is a sequence of play. For example: if the Dealer splits the deck and the card turned over is a black four then all black fours are wild for the first ten cards played. No 3s, 5s, or 7s can be used as wild cards. If one of those is selected, the dealer replaces the deck and cuts again until a valid card is selected. At this point a player decides if they are going to play or not. Only one Wild Card can be used on a meld and/or paid kondition. During play the Wild Card can be replaced with a valid third card to the meld and used again by the player that first laid the wild card. If the Wild Card is replaced by the player they must use it in another meld immediately. When the player Pans the first 10 cards they are dealt another 5 cards from the top of the deck. The opposite color of the wild card now becomes wild and all like them and playable throughout those 5 cards. When the player melds those 5 cards and is flat with 15 cards they are once again dealt 5 more cards from the top of the deck. The wild card reverts back to the original color of the wild card value selected. The game continues until someone Pans 21 cards to win the game.
During the playing of the 20 cards, players are paid for all valid payable konditions. Upon going out and winning the game the player is repaid for all valid konditions plus the Tops. It is not uncommon to see a couple of Bongs in a hand and for someone playing this wild card variation to go out for as much 20 to 30 chips.
